Stephanie Carter - V.P. of Marketing & Communications
, UBTech
Stephanie Carter, a seasoned marketing professional with 15+ years of experience, excels in steering branding, marketing, communication, and recruitment strategies. She's the Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Uintah Basin Technical College (UBTech), contributing to the President’s 2030 vision and strategic goals. A key member of a statewide committee for 16 higher-ed institutions, Stephanie collaborates on impactful campaigns promoting the value of technical education.
A UBTech alum, Stephanie transformed UBTech.edu, launched influential social channels, and pioneered analytics use. She led rebranding initiatives transforming UBATC to UBTech, introduced the first UBTech app, and Utah's first technical college mascot, boosting student pride.
Stephanie has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and is currently finishing her Master of Science Degree in Management Leadership. In addition to her roles at UBTech, she has served on the Zion's Bank Regional Board, the Roosevelt Business Alliance, and the Business Development Committee at the Vernal Chamber.
Stephanie is married to Chris Carter, who works in the oil and gas industry at Berry Corporation. They enjoy raising their two daughters in the Uintah Basin and are passionate about the community. You can often find the family at archery tournaments or dance competitions.
Rikki Hrenko-Browning - President, UPA
Rikki Hrenko-Browning is the President of the Utah Petroleum Association (UPA). UPA is a trade and advocacy organization representing the upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas interests in the state. Prior to leading UPA, Rikki lived in Estonia and came to Utah as the CEO of Enefit American Oil, the Estonian company’s oil shale project in Eastern Utah. Rikki has a Masters in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon and an undergraduate degree in botany and environmental science. She has been appointed by the Governor to the Utah Watersheds Council, the SITLA Nominating Committee, serves on DNR’s Endangered Species Mitigation Fund, the US Global Leadership Coalition, and other boards and advisory panels. Rikki was honored as a Utah Business 2020 Woman of the Year and in their 30 women to watch series in 2014.
Jason Ashmun - Executive V.P., Chief Operating Officer, Javelin Energy Partners
Jason L. Ashmun is a co-founder and serves as the COO of Javelin Energy Partners since its
inception in June 2020. With a significant track record in leadership and technical expertise, he's a
servant leader known for producing high-performing teams, aligning goals, and promoting a culture of
technical excellence, safety, and community engagement.
Before his role at Javelin, he served as the COO of Covey Park Energy from 2018 to 2019. There, his leadership was crucial in shaping the company's direction, which eventually led to its acquisition by Comstock Resources in 2019.
Between 2010 and 2018, Jason led multiple business units at Chesapeake Energy and honed his technical skills at Anadarko, The Houston Exploration Company, and Crimson Exploration prior to 2010. He holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University and attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2015.
Jason Pearce - President, Uinta Wax
Mr. Pearce Graduated in 1998 from Texas A&M University with a BS in Petroleum Engineering. After graduation he spent 5 years with Conoco/COP as an area engineer performing both production and reservoir engineering roles along the Gulf Coast in both Louisiana and Texas and later in the Lobo Field of South Texas.

Mr. Pearce moved to Fort Worth, TX to work for XTO Energy in 2003 as a Reservoir Engineer in East Texas drilling for tight gas. At the end of his tenure with XTO he was responsible for 30 rigs running in East Texas drilling both horizontal and vertical wells across 4 counties. Mr. Pearce joined CH4 Energy in 2011 and has been a partner in CH4 Energy II, III, IV, V and now CH4 Energy Six which owns the Uinta Wax assets in partnership with Finley Resources.
Kit Pfeiffer - V.P. of Marketing, XCL
Kit Pfeiffer is the Vice President of Marketing for XCL Resources. Prior to XCL he gained downstream experience with Saudi Aramco and Shell’s refining and lubricants businesses. He has degrees in Chemical Engineering and Energy Economics from the Colorado School of Mines and Rice University
Jeter Thomas - CFO, Caerus Oil & Gas
Mr. Thomas has been the CFO at Caerus since 2011. He joined Caerus as the Company’s first hired employee in charge of business development in January 2010. Prior to joining Caerus, Mr. Thomas served as Senior Business Development Engineer for Puckett Land Company, a private company engaged in the acquisition, development and production of natural gas in the Piceance Basin of Western Colorado.
Previously, Mr. Thomas was a member of Chevron’s MBA Finance Development Program; he also spent four years with Forest Oil Corporation in various engineering capacities. Mr. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree in Systems Sciences from the University of Pennsylvania and graduated with High Distinction from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, where he obtained his Master of Business Administration degree
Matt Vezza, VP and General Manager - Anadarko and Rockies area - Ovintiv
Mr. Vezza was named Vice President and General Manager - Anadarko and Rockies operating area in June 2020. He is responsible for guiding the development of Ovintiv's Oklahoma and Rockies assets.

Vezza joined Ovintiv from Newfield Exploration Company where he worked for seven years. While at Newfield, Vezza served in a variety of leadership roles, ranging from General Manager for the Rockies Business Unit to regional Vice President, overseeing the company's activities in the Anadarko, Arkoma, Williston, and Uinta Basins.

Previously, Vezza was with Marathon Oil Company for 16 years - where he held responsibilities for the company's Wyoming assets and earlier, the Piceance Basin. He also served on Marathon's worldwide strategic planning staff. He started his career with Marathon as a compliance engineer and progressively moved through the organization in various technical and management roles in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisianna, Colorado, and Wyoming.
Vezza is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and holds a B.S. in petroleum and natural gas engineering from Penn State University.

Andrew Browning - President, Western States and Tribal Nations
Andrew Browning is one of principal founders and President of the Western States and Tribal Nations (WSTN) Natural Gas Initiative. WSTN is a unique public/private partnership between western states, counties and tribal governments, and natural gas industry stakeholders with a focus on building comprehensive and effective regional collaboration under a formal MOU to advocate for and develop local and global markets for Rockies natural gas. The MOU is signed by the States of Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, Baja California, Mexico, the Ute Indian Tribe, the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, the Jicarilla Apache Nation and the counties of western Colorado including Garfield, Mesa, Moffat and Rio Blanco.
With over 25 years of experience in both the private and government sectors, Andrew Browning was previously Director of Government Relations at Methanex –the world’s largest methanol producer and distributor- and a White House appointee to the U.S. Department of Energy during the Clinton administration where he served as a special assistant in the Office of Fossil Energy. He holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a B.A. in Government from the University of Texas at Austin.

Jeff Hartley - WSTN Vice Chair, State of Utah
For more than 25 years, Jeff Hartley has been working to make government function better. After graduating from BYU, he spent almost a decade working on Capitol Hill in Washington DC. Since escaping the swamp in 2006, Jeff has represented a wide variety of industries, establishing himself as one of the leading regulatory lobbyists in Utah.
In addition to representing the spectrum of energy interests, Jeff’s areas of focus include environmental issues, emerging technologies and local government concerns. Jeff has served on many appointed boards, commissions and task forces.

Travis Taylor - Director of Operations, Red Willow Production
Travis serves as Director of Operations for Red Willow and is responsible for managing the daily activities for all operated San Juan Basin production. Mr. Taylor’s team is accountable for Production, Automation, Gas Measurement and Maintenance. Mr. Taylor began his career with Red Willow in December 1996 as one of the company’s first lease operator trainees. Travis held various positions within Red Willow before leaving in January of 2011 as the Production Superintendent. He spent the next seven years working for a drilling and well servicing company in a managerial position, returning to Red Willow in January 2018. Travis has over 25 years of experience with upstream operations.
Mr. Taylor has served on the State of Colorado and Southern Ute Tribe Air Quality Commission and is a
current Board Member of the Western States and Tribal Nations Natural Gas Initiative.

Christine Watkins - Utah House of Representatives
Christine was born in Logan, Utah, where she attended schools in Logan and Lewiston, Utah.
She grew up by her grandparents in Lewiston and milked cows, thinned and hoed sugar beets,
hauled hay and moved sprinkler pipe. After 8th grade her family moved to Lompoc, California. She graduated from Utah State University with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She has three Special Education endorsements from BYU and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Utah.
Christine taught school for 20+ years and worked for the Utah Education Association for 12 years.
After her retirement, she became the elementary principal for the local charter school. She lived in Castle Dale, Utah, for 28 years. She was active in church and community.

Christine was married to John Watkins, who was also her campaign manager. Christine is the mother of five children, 4 sons and 1 daughter. She is the happy grandma to 6 grandkids. She lives in Carbon County with a son and grandson on two and a half acres and enjoys working on their property. Christine has always lived in rural areas and is an adamant advocate for the people who live in rural Utah and the multiple use of its lands.
Christine is in her eleventh year of serving in the Legislature. She is serving on the Natural Resources Agriculture, and Environment Committee and Judicial Committee. She is the House Chair of the Business, Economic Development, and Labor Committee. She is also the House Chair of the Child Welfare Oversight Subcommittee and Native American Liaison Subcommittee.

Mike Molenaar - Business Development Rep Sr., Williams
Mr. Molenaar has a Geological Engineering degree and an MBA. He has been with Questar Pipeline, now MountainWest Pipeline, for 25 years, where he
worked in environmental, strategic development, finance, and now business development.
Molenaar has been working on increasing gas takeaway capacity out of the Unita Basin for the past five years.
Alan Walker - Operations Director, EGI
Alan Walker is the Operations Manager and a petroleum engineer at the Energy & Geoscience Institute at the University of Utah (EGI). At EGI he is responsible for staff operations supporting research groups in geothermal science, hydrocarbon and critical mineral geoscience, and carbon management. He also is appointed as a hydrocarbon subject matter expert on the Utah Oil, Gas, and Mining Board. He previously worked at EGI from 2007 to 2015, as Director of Technology Outreach for USTAR (Utah Science Technology & Research) to commercialize energy innovations.
Alan’s career in energy and hydrocarbon exploration & development (E&P) spans forty years including E&P engineering of sour gas and gas condensate; regulatory affairs; and gas supply management operations in storage, transportation, and distribution throughout the Rocky Mountain region. Prior to his current assignment at EGI, Alan was the Supervising Engineer at the California Department of Conservation, Division of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources where he had oversight of underground gas storage, well construction and stimulation, geologic information systems, environmental compliance (CEQA) programs and was the technical lead for the Division in controlling the SS25 blowout and the Aliso Canyon Storage Facility return to service assessment.
After college, Alan served in the active US Army and retired from the Army Reserve as a Special Forces colonel with over thirty years of service. He served three combat tours in Afghanistan, the Philippines, and Iraq. Alan has a B.S. in military engineering from West Point, an MBA from Rensselaer, and an M.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Utah. He and his wife Victoria have two children and two grandsons.
Rob Simmons - Carbon Science Initiative Director, EGI
Rob Simmons is the Carbon Science Initiative Director at the University of Utah’s Energy and
Geoscience Institute (EGI). Rob focuses on the development and commercial deployment of EGI’s
carbon science research, especially geologic carbon sequestration. In the 2022 Utah Legislative Session,
Rob was key to developing and passing HB Bill 244 Geological Carbon Sequestration, which provides a
policy and permitting pathway for commercial carbon sequestration projects in Utah.
Rob Simmons is an attorney with over 20 years of policy experience, including serving as former Utah
Governor Gary Herbert’s Energy Advisor. During his seven years with Governor Herbert’s energy office
he provided strategic energy analysis and planning, and informed legislation to advance affordable,
reliable and cleaner energy throughout the state. Robs energy policy work included helping to develop
legal briefs to the U.S. D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals and U.S. Supreme Court on the Clean Power Plan.
Before joining OED, Rob was the Associate Director of the Utah Technology Outreach & Innovation
Energy Program where he provided legal, policy and business support for the University of Utah’s
advanced energy programs. Prior to USTAR, Rob was the Vice President of the Oquirrh Institute, a
public policy think-tank founded by former Utah Governor, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
Administrator, and U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary, Mike Leavitt.

Dr. Seth Lyman - Director, Bingham Research Center
Dr. Seth Lyman directs Utah State University’s Bingham Research Center and is a Research Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. He earned a doctoral degree in Environmental Science and Health from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University. Seth and his coworkers at the Bingham Center research the environmental impacts of energy development, with a special focus on wintertime ozone in the Uinta Basin. Their mission is to provide high-quality scientific information that helps all stakeholders understand and resolve environmental problems. They work closely with industry, environmental interests, and all levels of government.
Michael Binnion - Chairman of the Board, Red Leaf Resources
Michael Binnion is President & CEO of and a founding shareholder of Questerre Energy
Corporation, which he established in November 2000.
Michael is a seasoned entrepreneur with a history of starting, financing and managing companies and not-for-profits. He has extensive experience as a board member for several high-tech companies in Canada. Additionally, he is the Executive Director of Rupert’s Crossing Ltd, a private merchant banking firm. He is also Chairman of both High Arctic Energy Services
and the Manning Foundation. Most recently he founded the Modern Miracle Network, an organization of Canadians wanting adult conversations about the benefits and impacts of
energy use.
He is the founder and chairman of the Sage Roots Foundation, seeking to end on-reserve poverty by reconciling traditional native knowledge, excellence in environmental stewardship, and entrepreneurship.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Finance from the University of Alberta.

Lance Porter - Green River District Manager, Bureau of Land Management
As District Manager for the BLM Green River District, Lance Porter provides direction and priorities for
approximately 4.2 million surface acres and 6.6 million subsurface acres of mineral resources. Lance
utilizes over 32 years of Federal service when overseeing planning initiatives, most recently the
implementation of the John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act. The Dingell Act designated, among others, Jurassic National Monument, John Wesley Powell National Conservation Area, McCoy Flats National Bike Trail System, 16 new wilderness areas, and 63 miles of Wild and Scenic River.
Lance started his Federal service with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service and then shifted to the Bureau of Land Management as a Nevada Rangeland Management Specialist in 1993.
After relocating to Rock Springs, WY to be closer to family, Lance transitioned into leadership as the
Assistant Field Manager in Kemmerer. His leadership then moved him on to Rock Springs as the Field
Manager and then to Moab, UT as the Canyon Country District Manager. In Moab, Lance was responsible for the management of the State’s largest recreation program. In addition, he helped kick-
off planning efforts for Bears Ears National Monument.
Lance’s level headedness and intentional problem solving has led to him being sought out for leadership details across the country including acting as the Associate State Director for New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas where he lent his skills to the State Director on vision and strategy development. Lance also had the opportunity to serve as the BLM’s Acting Deputy Assistant in the BLM Headquarters the summer of 2016.
A native of Star Valley, Wyoming, Lance enjoys camping, fishing, and spending time with his family,
especially his four grandchildren.
Roger Bankert - Vernal Field Manager, Bureau of Land Management
Roger Bankert grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado and graduated with a BS in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in 1983. He worked 4 years for Dowell Schlumberger before taking a staff petroleum engineering position with the BLM in Worland, WY in 1988. In 2002, he became the acting Assistant Field Manager of Renewable resources in the Worland office. In 2003, he moved to Pinedale, WY as the Associate Field Manager for the
Pinedale Field Office. In that positon, he oversaw the development of the Pinedale Anticline and the Jonah Field gas projects.
In 2006, he moved to Price, Utah where he was the Field Manager for the Price BLM Field Office. In 2008, he was mobilized for a year to Afghanistan with the Wyoming National Guard. After he returned from his deployment, he moved to the BLM Utah State Office as the Mineral Support Supervisor. In 2018 he moved to Vernal Utah into current position, as the Vernal Field Manager. In 2009, he retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel from the Wyoming National Guard.
He has been married for 37 years to his wife Jackie and they have 4 kids and 14 grandkids that
they enjoy.
Stanford Purser - Deputy Solicitor General, Utah Attorney General's Office
Stan Purser is a Deputy Solicitor General and Director of the Civil Appeals Division at the Utah Attorney General’s Office. The division handles a wide variety of appeals, including constitutional issues, civil rights, employment, torts, public lands, agency decisions, environmental law, native American law, tax, etc.
Before joining the AGO, Stan practiced at law firms in Dallas, Texas, and served as a judicial clerk on the Utah Supreme Court and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He earned his J.D. and B.A. degrees from BYU.
Ron Winterton - Utah Senate
Senator Winterton is currently serving in his fifth year in the state senate. Prior to that he served ten years as a Duchesne county commissioner serving; on numerous boards and committees including 5 years on the state PCIB (permanent community Impact board), 8 years on the Federal Forest Service RAC, 10 years on the Tri-county Health board, 15 years on Duchesne county Special Service district#3, rounding out a large variety of experiences.
His professional career was in the service and transportation fields for 30 years, Senator Winterton contributes his success to the support of his wife Lori of 43 years and their 5 children and 19 grandchildren. He has received numerous awards and recognitions as a champion for Energy and Economic development, rural lifestyle, and federalism.
Senator Winterton serves as the chairman of the Senate Natural Resource Committee, and the Federalism Commission, along with serving on Government Operations and Transportation Committees. He serves on IGG and Natural Resources Appropriations. He also sits on several confirmation committees and serves as co-chair of the Economic Development and Workforce Interim Committee.
He works for Jones and DeMille Engineering doing Business Development and loves serving his Senate District.
Bruce Adams - Commissioner, San Juan County
Commissioner Adams is a retired school teacher and a family cattle man. He was elected in November of 2004. Commissioner Adams also manages a family mineral lease company of 17,000 acres in Northeast San Juan County and Southwest Colorado.
Adams has six children, twenty-two grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education and later received a Masters of Psychology from Utah State University.
The Adams family are original settlers of San Juan County and have lived in San Juan County for five generations. Commissioner Adams is the senior board member of the State Community Impact Board charged with helping rural communities improve their infrastructure because of extraction impacts, using mineral royalty monies. Due to the Bears Ears Monument declared first by President Obama and enlarged by President Biden, Commissioner Adams has been working with SITLA to protect their trust lands and San Juan County's mineral interest.
Michelle McConkie - Executive Director, Trust Lands Administration
Michelle E. McConkie serves as Executive Director of the Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration. Michelle leads and directs all administrative and operational functions of this independent state agency, including oil and gas, mining, renewable energy, surface resources, and real estate development projects.
The Trust Lands Administration manages over 3.4 million surface acres of trust lands and 4.5 million acres of mineral estate. All revenue generated from these lands benefit 12 state institutions, the largest of which is Utah’s public school system.
McConkie has more than 20 years' experience in natural resource and real estate development issues. As an attorney, she worked for private law firms and as Senior Legal Counsel for the Trust Land Administration. She has also worked as the managing director for the Trust Lands Administration’s Surface Resource Group, the division responsible for managing and generating revenue from nearly 3.4 million acres of surface estate held by the trust.
Michelle holds a Juris Doctorate Degree from the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Utah.
Kim Christy - Director, Land, Trusts Protection and Advocacy Office
Kim Christy is the Director of the Land Trusts Protection and Advocacy Office, which was created by the Legislature in 2018 to represent and protect the interests of Utah’s Trust Land Beneficiaries, provide oversight, and help the public understand and support the importance of the Trust System.
After 18 years of service with the Trust Lands Administration, Kim retired as deputy director in 2020. His professional career has also included serving as the Vice President of Public Policy for the Utah Farm Bureau as well as a policy analyst for the Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel.
Brenda McDonald - County Recorder, Uintah County
Brenda McDonald is a dedicated and accomplished public servant who has been an integral part of the Uintah County Recorder's office since 1991. Her journey in this role began as a commitment to contributing her skills and passion to a field she truly enjoys. Throughout her career, Brenda has demonstrated a relentless pursuit of excellence,
consistently striving to provide the best possible service to her community.
After many years of dedicated service, Brenda's ambition led her to take on the role of
Recorder for Uintah County. Brenda has been recognized by her peers in remarkable ways, she has been chosen as Utah Recorder of the Year for two consecutive years.
A true testament to Brenda's dedication is her accomplishment of achieving the prestigious "Master Instructor" Level 6 designation from the Utah Association of County Recorders. This remarkable achievement required her to complete over 340 hours of Real Estate Law, Records and Technology, Office Management, and provided 4 hours of training to other county recorders.
Brenda's passion for growth and leadership extends beyond her professional realm. She was invited to participate in the Utah Rural Leadership Academy, a prestigious program hosted by the Governor's office and Southern Utah University. Through this yearlong program, Brenda engaged in intensive leadership development and collaboration, culminating in her receiving a certificate of completion last October.
Throughout her career, Brenda McDonald's goal has been to serve her community to the best of her ability. Her dedication to maintaining accurate and reliable records reflects her commitment to helping the community thrive. .
Steve Evans - Chairman, Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce Legislative Impact Committee
Owner/operator of Evans Family Media in Vernal. Company assets include 5 local commercial radio stations servicing Duchesne, Uintah and the western portion of Rio Blanco County Colorado including Rangely and Meeker. EFM also owns and operates BasinNow.com, a Uintah Basin digital newspaper. Steve has been active in numerous civic organizations including serving 2 years as president of the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce. He currently serves as chairman of the Legislative Affairs Committee of the Vernal Area Chamber which “meets regularly to work on legislative and regulatory matters that could affect county and city governments, local commerce, industry and county residents”.
Matt Cazier - Director, Uintah County Community Development
Matt Cazier was born and raised in Liberty, Utah. He graduated from Weber High School and then went
to college at Weber State University where he obtained a BA in Geography with an urban planning
emphasis. Matt has been employed in the planning profession for 19 years. Matt was appointed as the
Community Development Director for Uintah County in 2006. Prior to that appointment he served as
the Land Use Planner for the City of Belleville, Illinois, and as an intern for Ogden City.
Matt enjoys water skiing, taking care of his yard, cooking, and spending time with his wife and two
children.

Beau Hancock - Strata Networks
Beau Hancock has over 10 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. He has held the position of Attorney Special Projects for STRATA Networks for 5 years. His primary responsibilities involve legal and regulatory compliance for STRATA’s operations. He also assists in managing large broadband construction projects that require approval from many private and public entities.
Beau graduated with a juris doctorate from the University of Tulsa in 2010. Shortly after graduation, he took the State of Utah Bar Exam and has been a licensed attorney in Utah since the fall of 2010. As an attorney, Beau has maintained the ethical and professional standards expected for this field.
Beau has developed the skills necessary to work with coworkers, regulators, and legislatures to facilitate rural broadband construction projects. As a member of STRATA’s USDA ReConnect Grant/Loan Team, Beau will manage the application timeline and review all submitted documents required under the application.
Beau has spent the majority of his life in rural Utah. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Utah State University. He enjoys taking advantage of Utah’s outdoor activities with his wife, Autumn and their two young children.

Wes Taylor - CEO, Ashley Valley Medical Center
Wes Taylor is the CEO of Ashley Regional Medical Center. He joined the team on April 30, 2020.
Wes began his career in healthcare as an Administrative Fellow and Transplant Institute Manager at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Prior to Ashley Regional, Wes served as COO of Havasu Regional Medical Center in Arizona where he oversaw several multi-million-dollar construction and renovation projects, the expansion of service lines, the recruiting of new physicians, and many staff development and community initiatives.
Wes earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Marriott School of Management, Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah, and a Master’s degree in Health Care Administration from University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) as well as a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS).
Wes enjoys reading, spending time with family and exploring cultures and places around the world.
Aaron Weight - President, UBTech
Aaron K. Weight is the 11th president of Uintah Basin Technical College, joining the college in June of 2014. As a technical engineer, small businessman, educator, and community leader, he has dedicated his career to advancing business, community, and educational opportunities regionally and throughout the state of Utah. As President, he has engaged the college community in a visionary plan to advance UBTech’s role as a nationally renowned institution, producing highly qualified workforce prepared graduates. Recent initiatives, such as “A Partner for Every Program” and “Vision 2030” define UBTech’s role as an economic development partner in the business community, and align student’s technical education experiences, with the current needs and opportunities of industry in the state.
Since the announcement of his first initiative, UBTech has formally partnered with nearly 40 companies and philanthropy minded organizations, to provide college students with scholarship opportunities, and work force alignment.
President Weights’ vision for UBTech led to the creation of the college’s formally recognized cultural motto called “The UBTech Way.” Embodying the colleges desire for students, staff, and community members to be Student Centered; Service Oriented; and Connected on Campus and in the Community.
He earned undergraduate degrees, with high honors, in Electric Power Technology, and Energy Management, from Bismarck State College. Continuing to earn a professional certificate, in Distribution Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, and a Master of Science in Management and Leadership degree from Western Governors University.
President Weight has been honored and recognized by numerous organizations for his public service and leadership and is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success
HD Sanderson - U.S. Rep. John Curtis
HD has worked for Congressman John Curtis (UT03) since January 2020. He oversees health, military, and veteran casework and outreach throughout Mr. Curtis’ district, as well as overseeing outreach in the Uintah Basin and Summit County.
HD graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science in 2019 and Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) in 2022 – both degrees from Brigham Young University. Prior to working for Representative Curtis, HD completed internships in the Utah State Senate for Senator Curt Bramble and also for Stan Lockhart with the Lockhart Group. When he isn’t working, HD loves spending time with his wife and two sons, and getting into the outdoors as often as possible.
